Zayden fighting leukemia (Ph pos preB ALL)

Zayden is 15-years-old and a freshman in high school. He struggled with stomach pains, which we initially thought were related to anxiety related to transitioning into high school. However, due to continued stomach aches, fatigue, leg pain and nausea, he was taken to the emergency room on 10/26/2022.

Zayden’s lab results were very concerning as his white blood cell count, red blood cell count and platelets were all low. He was transferred to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera, Ca on 10/27/2022. He was diagnosed with High Risk Pre B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). His bone marrow biopsy results determined he was positive for the Philadelphia chromosome, which is rare (2%) and requires daily medication because it is more aggressive.

Zayden has been admitted to the hospital for a significant period of time due to multiple complications. Since 10/26/2022, Zayden has remained in the hospital. He was able to come home for 2 weeks before spiking a fever and being readmitted.

We also started a CaringBridge page to update our family and friends.

This go fund me account was started to help relieve financial stress related to travel, hospitalization, time off work, food and medical expenses.

Zayden will eventually transition to outpatient treatments at the Valley Children’s clinic. We live over 100 miles away from the hospital.

Funds will also be used to help with Zayden’s mental health by creating a positive environment while he lives with and fights against cancer.

Zaydens fight against leukemia has been anything but easy.

First bone marrow test 10/28/22 = 96%

second bone marrow test 11/28/22 = .42%

Third bone marrow test 02/24/23 = 0% Zayden is officially in remission!!

Fourth bone marrow test 06/07/23 = 0%

Confirmed Z is still in remission!!

More recently he is fighting bacteria and fungal infections. He is on 4 different antibiotics and chemo has been on hold for 3 weeks.

As of 10/13/2023 - Zayden is receiving TPN at night to help with nutrition. His chemo regimen involves 3 different chemo medications, 1 med for his heart, 1 med for blood pressure, antibacterial, antifungal and magnesium :) we are trying to get our footing at home.
