Carter had to have half of his foot amputated 4 years ago due to an infection. He's also a severe diabetic. Over the last year and a half, he's been struggling with a pressure ulcer on the bottom of his heel that just wouldn't heal up.
I was scheduled to have surgery on my upper neck, which we had not been anticipating. My doctor found by accident that my spinal column was being compressed, and I was in a situation where I could become paralyzed from the chest down. So very quickly, in a matter of 3 weeks, I had to have surgery on my upper neck. I was scheduled to have it on May 27th, which was a Tuesday. On Sunday, just 2 days before my surgery, Carter ended up with his foot being terribly infected and back in the hospital. We found out the day before my surgery that he was going to have to have an amputation just below the knee, which is devastating.
He's been, unfortunately, laid off from work for the past 6 months and unable to get a job due to some of his limitations. And now he's got the full amputation, which is gonna make things even worse. It's going to take a long time for him to heal. I'm in the process of healing from my surgery and in a neck brace for the next 6 weeks, and after that, I'm still going to be limited in what I can do. So with no financial income, we're kind of up against the wall, but we're praying and having faith, and we know that God will take care of everything.
I hope this gives you some information. If you need anything else, just let me know. Thank you so much for thinking of us.
