Granny taught me how to knit when I was 8 years old and I haven't been without a pair of needles in my hand ever since.
Over the years I've played with the idea of selling things online, but never truly had the confidence to do it. Who would buy my things when there were so many other, better ones out there? I kept the dream in the pipeline, revisiting the idea in my head many times, while I carried on knitting for myself and to give as presents to other people.

A friend had a baby recently, her first little boy. I knit a mustard and cream cardigan for him to grow into, as a congratulations.
One day she said she loves it so much, it always gets so many compliments, and listed all the reasons why it was fantastic. She said I should start selling them!
Having heard this said before, something moved me this time. Somehow, with her words in my ears, it felt like I could actually do it!

So, now I'm here.

Six months ago I found myself unemployed and back living under my parent's roof. Finding work has been especially challenging because of the coronavirus, and so it seemed like the perfect gift of time with which to do something momentous.
Being the friend she is, she encouraged me; she gave me advice, she held my hand as I found my feet under me. Now I'm all ready to leap in and move thoughts into actions on my own!

But there are a lot of initial costs involved in getting set up. And that is why I need your help. If you think you would like to be a part of making this happen, your donation will go towards
- purchasing a wholesale quantity of wool to create the first garments
- buying the necessary notions - buttons, labels etcetera
- website costs for establishing and operating an online shop
- hiring a photographer to take great images of the items, for the website, marketing and
   social media platforms
- hiring a web designer to create the final website at a professional standard
- purchasing all the necessary bits and pieces for customising the branding of the
   business
- buying advertising spaces online, in order to promote sales
- ordering bulk quantities of packaging, to be ready for sending out sold items in
   the post
- lots of other little things

This is both a start-up business and the making of a dream come true.
It is a project with integrity.
It is the continuation of tradition within Ireland. It is keeping craft skills alive and Irish people supporting their home industry. Hand knitting is part of our heritage, and so I will be carrying on our cultural legacy, an Irish designer working with Irish wool spun in County Donegal, creating a 100% Irish product in a time-honoured way.

In the classic words of the Beatles, I believe it will work "with a little help from my friends..."
I hope you think so too.

thank you.
