A Family in Need

My name is Carolyn Homan and I am the older sister to Robert Doerr. Robert was a young man who enjoyed life, always brought humor to those around him and worked hard to support his wife, Claudia, and their 3 beautiful children: Avril who is 16, Lexie who is 15 and Trevor who is 12 years old.

Robert was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer, MDS, in April of 2021 after throwing a blood clot to his lung. He fought a hard, tough battle for the next 9 months with weekly blood transfusions, a major stroke on Oct. 14th that left him unable to walk and 3 rounds of chemo. He lost 100 lbs. in 7 months and still continued to fight with everything he had! He was a true warrior!

Sadly, on January 14, 2022, he lost the battle at the young age of 49! It has been devastating for his family as they not only are trying to process his passing, but also try to survive without him! They lived paycheck to paycheck and Claudia was unable to work over the last 9 months as Rob needed 24 hour care! She is now struggling to put food on table, keep a roof over their heads and pay medical and funeral costs as they navigate through this loss.

I have set up this fundraiser to help Claudia and her children with their rent, food, medical and funeral expenses during this unimaginable and devastating time.

Mi nombre es Carolyn Homan y soy la hermana mayor de Robert Doerr. Robert era un joven que disfrutaba de la vida, siempre traía humor a quienes lo rodeaban y trabajaba duro para mantener a su esposa, Claudia, y a sus 3 hermosos hijos: Avril de 16 años, Lexie de 15 y Trevor de 12 años.

Robert fue diagnosticado con un cáncer de sangre raro, MDS, en abril de 2021 después de arrojar un coágulo de sangre a su pulmón. Luchó una dura y dura batalla durante los siguientes 9 meses con transfusiones de sangre semanales y 3 rondas de quimioterapia. Perdió 100 libras. en 7 meses y aún seguía luchando con todo lo que tenía! ¡Era un verdadero guerrero!

Lamentablemente, el 14 de enero de 2022, ¡perdió la batalla a la temprana edad de 49 años! ¡Ha sido devastador para su familia, ya que no solo están tratando de procesar su fallecimiento, sino que también intentan sobrevivir sin él! ¡Vivían de cheque en cheque y Claudia no pudo trabajar durante los últimos 9 meses porque Rob necesitaba atención las 24 horas! Ahora está luchando para poner comida en la mesa, mantener un techo sobre sus cabezas y pagar los costos médicos y funerarios mientras atraviesan esta pérdida.

He organizado esta recaudación de fondos para ayudar a Claudia y sus hijos con el alquiler, la comida, los gastos médicos y los gastos funerarios durante este tiempo inimaginable y devastador.
