Christina is organizing this fundraiser for 30 year old, Omar Imad Omar Rayyan and his family. He struggles to access basic necessities given soaring prices and an inability to work amid these dire circumstances in Gaza.
The collected funds will be deposited into a Canadian bank account and subsequently transferred to his account. These funds will be utilized to meet Omar's and his families basic needs.
Omar’s Family consists of his wife Handel, and their son Imad, and daughter Amal, his parents, and Omar’s 6 sisters who are all under the age 15.
Omar’s Story – From the Ashes of War, Hope Rises
In a small, weathered tent that barely stands against the wind, lives Omar, a 30-year-old man carrying the weight of pain, loss, and hope on his shoulders.
Before the war, Omar was a simple, hardworking sales representative. Every day, he walked through the city streets with a smile, striving to provide a decent life for his little family — his loving wife and their two children, Amal and Imad, who were the light of his world and the reason behind his every effort.
Then the war came, and everything changed.
One tragic day, while trying to help those around him, Omar was struck by an explosive bullet in his hand. The pain was unbearable, and the bleeding wouldn’t stop. He was rushed to a small field clinic that could offer only the most basic care. Days passed, and his wound worsened until it became severely infected, leaving his hand partially disabled.
Yet the physical pain was nothing compared to what came after. Omar lost many of his family members, friends, and former colleagues, taken by the war one after another. The silence left behind was heavy — an echo of memories and faces he would never see again.
Now, Omar lives in a fragile tent that barely shields him from the scorching heat of summer or the biting cold of winter. When it rains, water seeps through the torn fabric and mud covers the ground beneath him. Still, each morning, he forces a smile for his children, hiding the ache that lives deep inside.
Despite everything, Omar refuses to give up.
He clings to hope, finding strength in the laughter of his children. Every day, he looks at his injured hand — a reminder of both his suffering and his survival — and tells himself that it can still be a hand of work and dignity, if only he could receive the proper treatment.
Omar dreams of a chance to travel abroad for medical care, to regain his strength and rebuild his life from the ground up. He doesn’t ask for pity — only for a fair opportunity to live with dignity, to provide for his family, and to feel once more like the man he used to be.
His story is not just one of war and injury. It is the story of a man who lost nearly everything, yet still chooses to stand tall — holding onto faith, love, and the unbreakable belief that hope can rise even from the ashes of war.
At last Omar’s strength is built on love, not on what he lost.
I spent more than two weeks sleeping in the street on the mattress in front of you in this picture in order to get a nylon tent that is not suitable for living.
