Zanzibar School Project

Donation protected
Currently, the beautiful children of Mskiti Mzuri, a small village located on the island of Zanzibar must travel to the neighbouring village for their schooling. This journey is mostly carried out on foot as the return trips on the local buses are expensive and put large financial strains on the families. Every day children from 4-7 years old walk up to 6km to and from school. This poses many issues such as danger of sunstroke and dehydration in the hot summers, danger of being on the streets alone, children being worn out before school even starts and general reduction in motivation to attend school. Help us make a difference to the whole community by building a school that is accessible, nurturing and modern.

We want to financially empower the local community to build a school in their village. Currently, 79.5% of children (4-5 years) are not enrolled in pre-primary school in Zanzibar. The remote location of villages such as Msikiti Mzuri make the journey to school too dangerous. Hence, parents prioritise safety over preschool education. Help us provide these children with a school close by that can offer both education and safety.

We are currently entering the second phase of the Zanzibar School Project. The land has been purchased and our next goal is to raise money for building materials, an architect, plumbing, electricity and school supplies. We have a goal of $10,000.

Please help us reach our goal to provide this much needed nursery school!
