Everybody needs help sometime. And that "sometime" is Now for my long time friend Rena Skinner & her 21 year old son Zane. Those of you that know Rena and her boys (twin sons Jordan & Zane) know that they've had many challenges over the years. But even as a single Mom, Rena managed to pull it off, with the help of her faith and some wonderful people along the way. Zane is a typical young man...High School Grad, works full time at Krystal...has a fiancée (Vallery)...loves pizza, video games & Pokémon. He was an enthusiastic volunteer for 3 years at the Jacksonville Zoo. Zane was also an acolyte at his church and active in the church's youth group.
But Zane's entire life changed on March 9, 2019. He was diagnosed with the flu and went home to recover. The next morning he was unable to walk! Zane had to be rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. After extensive testing, the doctors determined Zane had swelling of his brain tissue and inflammation of the spinal cord. This is likely due to a secondary infection or virus related to the flu. But the doctors are still not sure.
Zane's condition is very serious and required him to be admitted and transferred to the ICU. He spent a week in the ICU and is now back in a regular room. Zane is still unable to walk but has Physical Therapy every day. The doctors indicate that the recovery process could be months and his prognosis is uncertain.
Financially, like many of us, things were already paycheck to paycheck for Zane and his fiancée before this life altering situation. Zane has basic health insurance through the Healthcare Marketplace. His deductible is $7900.00. Zane's job is in jeopardy, if he can even return to work at some point.
Please join me in raising money to help cover the exorbitant costs of medical treatment & therapy for Zane. Any contribution will make a difference!
Please donate and share this GoFundMe account to show your support.
