My little brother Zane flipped a golf cart last July with his friends & hit his head. Shortly after this accident he started to have confusing sentences, talking/laughing to himself & even weird outbursts. Zane nor his friends had told anyone about the accident or the symptoms. Zane did a good job of hiding his symptoms from us at home & all we noticed was some irritability & drop in grades, which we had chalked up to be normal teenage angst. His friend finally over spring break in April told us about his symptoms after 9 months!! He was having these symptoms at school & was even crying through a whole class & not one teacher notified me of these symptoms! Crazy! We tried many times to get help but Zane refused as he has hardly any short term memory so he doesn't think anything is wrong. Multiple ER visits & now 2 inpt psych stays later, it has been determined that he has probably 2 brain injuries & will be going to origami for brain rehab on Thursday which will probably be 4-6 weeks inpatient & at least 1 yr outpatient. None of this is covered by insurance which is gonna be 425-650.00/day. As well as of course his primary insurance is trying deny coverage for his inpatient psych stay.
