Zander's Journey

On June 12th 2015 eight month old Zander was diagnosed with infantile B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic leukemia... It’s hard to believe that when you see him with that heart breaker of a smile and big blue eyes.  He has a long journey ahead of him.  He had his port placed in his chest and began chemotherapy very quickly after he was diagnosed.  Zander’s treatment course will last 2-3 years long.  The first 5 weeks for our little man will be critical as his body reacts to the chemotherapy regimen along with several other drugs to combat side effects and prevent infection.  So far the adjustment to the port and medicines have left him uncomfortable, but he is staying strong wanting to play… before we know it he will be off and crawling leaving Mom and Dad to chase him around with his IV pole! The goal over these next 5 weeks is to knock the leukemia out of his body so that his bone marrow will start to pump out healthy cells. Looking out further, the chemotherapy will continue to be used to combat any leukemia cells that try to regenerate.  Little Zander and his family have a long journey ahead of them.  We set up this account to help aide in the expenses associated with Zander’s treatment that the family will face over the coming months and years.
