Hi, my name is Zander and I am a 17 year old lacrosse player from Melbourne. I have recently been selected to form part of the U20 Australian team at the World Junior Lacrosse Competition in Winnipeg, Canada in early August 2022.
Whilst I have represented Victoria on numerous occasions at national championships, and will play for the U18 Victorian State team at Nationals in early July 2022, this will be my first time representing Australia, and I am definitely hopeful that it will not be the last!
I am an apprentice arborist by day and spend most of my evenings at lacrosse training. I spend a large portion of my weekends playing for Caulfield Lacrosse Club in our State League team and in our U18 team, as well as training with my fellow U18 Victorian State team teammates to prepare for Nationals.
If I perform well in Canada, there is a chance that I might be offered an opportunity to travel to Canada in 2023 and spend 6 months living, working and playing lacrosse there.
This whole opportunity is incredibly important to me as it could realise my dream of playing lacrosse overseas for my country. I live and breathe lacrosse and because I could not attain the necessary academic grades, my initial goal was to play College Lacrosse. This opportunity could potentially be another pathway for me to play with the best in Canada and the USA.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated and will be put towards airfares, accommodation, uniforms and food for the 10 days I will be in Canada. Thank you to everyone who donates - I will absolutely do my best to make you all proud to have contributed to this amazing opportunity for me.
