Zander's Leukemia Journey
Donation protected
After taking Zander to CHOA for what we assumed was complications from some sort of bad virus, Zander was evaluated and diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The virus he was fighting had turned into pneumonia because of the leukemia and his fragile immune system. He was hospitalized in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit while receiving oxygen to aid in his pneumonia recovery before starting chemotherapy. However, his pneumonia was not healing fast enough naturally, so they performed a procedure to draw out some of the built up fluid from his right lung. After tackling Zander's pneumonia, the doctor's could focus on Zanders cancer treatment plan. They performed a spinal tap procedure to test/treat his spinal fluid for cancerous cells. His results came back negative which is a huge blessing! Zander is currently on day 5 of treatment and responding well for the most part. For his initial treatment plan, he will need to be hospitalized for 28 days before assessing his bone marrow for any cancerous cells that may alter his treatment path. After his initial hospitalization, Zander will need multiple outpatient chemo treatments over the next 2-3 years. He has a long road ahead towards recovery, but he has already shown such resilience over the last few days! Your support will go towards travel and accommodations when being hospitalized for treatment over the course of his 2-3 year treatment plan as well as any financial burdens from unexpected leaves of absences from work. We deeply love and thank each of you for your support and prayers for our sweet Zander Man!
