Hello everyone! My name is Riad Edwards, and I am attempting to raise funds for my dear friend, Zakk Marquez, who is currently living in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

I received a call from one of Zakk’s friends last night, informing me that Zakk was unconscious and no longer breathing. He was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, Hospital CMQ. At the hospital, the doctors discovered that Zakk had contracted pneumonia, leaving his lungs severely damaged. Following Zack’s diagnosis, he was quickly rushed to the Hospital CMQ equipped with a critical care unit. Zack is still currently unconscious and on a ventilator. He remains in critical condition and he’s fighting for his life.

Zakk and Zakk’s mother are in desperate need of help, as the costs for Zakk’s medical care in Mexico is not being covered by his insurance, and the doctors at the hospital are demanding to be paid in advance. Furthermore, the doctors are now refusing to treat him any further, until payment is received. To top it off, the doctors stated that transferring Zakk will come with high risks, given his current condition.

Zakk’s mother is currently trying to transfer him to the Regional Medical Center, so that he can receive the medical treatment he so desperately needs. Zakk’s current medical bill has reached $4,791.94 and due to the uncertainty of his condition, his medical bills are only going to continue to build. Neither Zakk, nor his mother have the funds to continue treating him, so that is why I am asking for help.

Zakk is one of the kindest, most unique and caring individuals I’ve ever met, AND for only being 29 years of age, his level of maturity continues to inspire me. Zakk has dedicated the majority of his life to helping others through non-profits such as The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, and UNAIDS, where he currently works as a manager.

Please help me save this beautiful soul. For someone who’s dedicated their life to helping and saving others, it is of dire importance that we try and save his. We need your help and we need it now!
