Help Us Honour Zakariya’s Memory with a Lasting Tribute

Our dear colleague and friend, Shamima, recently experienced the heart breaking loss of her beloved 4-year-old son, Zakariya. Zakariya had faced health challenges since birth, and through it all, Shamima remained a pillar of strength, grace, and love — not only for her family but also for those of us lucky enough to work alongside her.

Shamima is a valued member of the Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) team, and her dedication, compassion, and resilience have touched us all. Despite facing many personal hardships, including the ongoing challenges of raising children through incredibly difficult circumstances, Shamima has always brought warmth, humility, and unwavering kindness to our team.

In honour of Zakariya’s short but meaningful life, we want to create something truly special — a water well for the poor and underprivileged in his name in Shamima’s native country. A well that will bring life, nourishment, and hope to others — a lasting tribute that reflects the love and strength Zakariya and his family have shown throughout his journey.

As a team, we have already raised a portion of the funds, but we need your help to make this tribute a reality. Every contribution, no matter how small, will go directly towards building this well and gifting Shamima and her family something meaningful from all of us — a symbol of community, compassion, and remembrance.
