Zakai Motley, lovingly known by his friends and family as Z, Fish God, Hillbilly Zak, and Kai Kai, was a vibrant and passionate young man whose love for sports touched everyone around him. As a three-sport athlete, Zakai excelled in basketball, football, and baseball, but it was on the football field where his heart truly belonged. His dedication, energy, and infectious spirit inspired his teammates and coaches alike, making him a cherished member of the community.
Tragically, Zakai passed away Friday, February 20th at the age of 13, from sudden cardiac arrest, leaving his family, friends, and the entire community in shock and mourning. The loss of such a bright and promising young athlete is unimaginable, and we are all struggling to come to terms with his absence. In the midst of this heartbreak, we want to honor Zakai's legacy by supporting the dreams of other young athletes and working to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
This memorial fund, set up by Zakai's family, will be used to help pay for the needs of kids who do not have the funds to play sports. Additionally, we hope to purchase AED units for local sports teams—life-saving equipment that could have made a difference for Kai. Our hope is to make this an ongoing fund, so Zakai's spirit can continue to inspire and protect young athletes for years to come. By contributing to this fund, you are helping to keep Zakai's spirit alive and ensuring that his love for sports continues to inspire and protect others. We are deeply grateful for any support you can offer, and together, we can make a lasting impact in Zakai's memory.
