My name is Alexandra Bar and my family and I made Aliyah to Israel (from Melbourne) a few months ago.

For my family, friends and all that this has reached in Australia, this fundraising is a way for you to support my heroes.

ABOUT ZAKA

ZAKA (the Hebrew acronym for Disaster Victim Identification) is a civilian volunteer organization with sole responsibility in Israel for dealing with incidents of unnatural death.

Honouring the dead is considered an act of Chesed Shel Emes (true virtue). In Judaism, this is considered the greatest mitzva (good deed) that can be performed, because the recipient has no way of repaying the kindness.

DONATIONS

I have set a fundraising goal of $18,000. In Hebrew there is a word חי ("Chai") which translates in English to the word "Life". The two letters of the Hebrew alphabet that make up the word Chai have a numerical value of 18.

I encourage you, if you can, to consider making a donation in a multiple of 18 to further strengthen the spiritual value of this act of charity.
