Hi everyone! This campaign has been set up because my little sister Rosie's sweet fiance, Zak, was just in a terrible car accident and is suffering from an excruciating and unresolved shoulder injury.
Both of Zak's shoulders were knocked out of their sockets, and one remains out as it was already damaged before this accident happened. He was initially told that his arm would likely either need to be amputated or fused, and fusing would leave it useless. Now we're not sure if that's the definite prognosis, but the hospital (UC Davis) discharged him yesterday because the surgeon they have in mind to operate on Zak is not currently available. He was sent home in horrendous pain, with his arm out of its socket. Pain medication is barely touching the pain, and they haven't been able to fill the prescription he was given as the hospital staff forgot to sign it. This has just been horrific for Zak and Rosie.
Rosie is currently driving Zak to Stanford University Medical Center on her own as they don't know what else to do.
Zak has been working as a welder after recently finishing training at a welding academy. He is such a hard worker and wants so badly to provide for Rosie and Axl, so this is incredibly devastating for him.
If you can help at all, it would be hugely appreciated! Even the littlest amount would go a long way in showing Zak and Rosie that their friends, family, and community are here for them during this difficult time. Any easing of the mounting financial stresses would help them out so much, and they are incredibly thankful for all prayers sent up on their behalf! Thank you all!
*UPDATE 4/20/19 11:16 pm : Zak has been admitted at Stanford and so far is being treated really well. Thank God! I am SO relieved to hear this after the horrible treatment he's received up until now. Rosie says the doctors and nurses are being really kind, understanding, and helpful - I can hear the hope coming through her texts! Thank you all for your amazing support. Please don't stop praying -- God is hearing us!
*UPDATE 4/21 11 am : Well, now the hospital wants to discharge Zak and wait until a later date for surgery. This is really scary as he feels unstable and pain is unmanageable -- it seems like it would be best if he could remain admitted for pain monitoring and management. Zak and Rosie are really scared. Please continue to lift them up in prayer!
*4/21 2 pm : It looks like they're getting to stay at least one more night - social worker and nurse have been fighting for Zak to remain admitted. Pray for continued mercy; thank you so much!
*4/22 11:23 am : Zak is in EXTREME pain and they haven't been able to get it under control. The doctors want to postpone surgery as they say it wouldn't take right now. There is talk of sending Zak home in the meantime, but this is really dangerous and seems completely unreasonable considering the state he is in.
