As many of you have heard by now, my brother and his wife’s home in Enterprise, OR burned down early Monday morning, April 13 (Zak Bradshaw, Lynn Bradshaw). Fortunately, all of the humans and most of the pets made it out alive—they have four young girls, three dogs, and they lost ten chickens. This disaster is doubly tragic for our family as their home was also the primary residence of my parents (Bill Bradshaw, Margaret Bradshaw). My parents recently sold their home in Idaho Falls to relocate to Enterprise to be closer to family. https://www.wallowa.com/news/local/early-morning-fire-torches-alder-slope-home/article_22204408-7db2-11ea-962a-c788e1903814.html
We want to extend many thanks to everyone who has already helped with material resources, financial resources, and spiritual resources! You have been a huge blessing! Countless others have reached out asking what they can do to help. This is a response to those requests, and this GoFundMe page is for Bill and Margaret Bradshaw. A separate page is being setup for Zak and Lynn Bradshaw.
Although a portion of the home is still standing, it is currently uninhabitable and will likely be a total loss. As is customary with insurance claims of this magnitude, there will be a bit of a delay in finding temporary lodging, determining what exactly will be covered, and what will be the best course of action moving forward. In the interim it would be helpful to have support from friends and family.
My parents recently downsized and they have now lost all of their belongings: furniture, clothing, sewing supplies, appliances, books, tools, and so forth. We are hopeful that insurance will be able to cover many of the material losses, but as anyone who has lived through a disaster knows, a host of personal items cannot be replaced (e.g., family heirlooms, pictures, and historic memorabilia). All of this is gone, and they are struggling to come to grips with the emotional loss and the uncertainty facing them in the immediate future. In many ways, the scariest part is the unknown and waiting.
Finally, we recognize that the current COVID-19 pandemic has put an unexpected financial burden on many households. If you are not in a position to help, then please do not. This GoFundMe is simply serving as an outlet for those who feel called to help and are in a position to do so.
Have a blessed day.
