Hi everyone! My name is Katy Milton and I am the lucky girlfriend of an amazing man named Zachary Cureton aka "Zac". I may be a little biased in saying this but, Zac truly is one of the best guys in the world! Anyone who knows him would say he is a very hard working, caring, energetic, hilarious, young man with a loving heart and a great personality. At age 26, Zac was in his final semester of college at UNC Charlotte and also working as a server/bartender at Red Lobster. Zac was more than ready to graduate college and begin his "real life" but unfortunately, he will have to put that on hold for now...
On September 14th, 2016, Zac was admitted to the Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC due to a collapsed lung. Prior to this, he had already been battling the Flu for over a week. Zac was diagnosed with a very bad case of Pneumonia and had to be hooked up to a ventilator to help him breathe. After a few days of being on the ventilator, Zac's condition worsened and he developed severe ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome). The doctors informed us that Zac would have to go through a procedure called ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation). They explained to us that this machine would basically act as an artificial lung while his damaged lungs heal.
Zac was transferred to Duke Hospital on September 18th for the ECMO procedure. He is still on ECMO but the docs have weened him off of several sedation medications and he has been working with physical therapy to gain his strength back. He is getting stronger every day but we are still waiting on his lungs to heal.
I just want to make a quick shout out to his parents who have been by their son's side EVERY day since this has happened. He is very blessed to have you both.
So how can YOU help? Zac has been in the ICU for 68 days and counting... We all know these medical bills are going to be very high. I am asking you to donate to Zac and his family. Anything will help. My goal is for them not to have to pay for any of these bills and with your help, we can make that happen! Please share this with everyone. Also, if you don't wish to donate, you can help out by praying for Zac, his family, his friends, and his doctors! Thank you all in advance.
Isaiah 40:28-31
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
