Keeping Kosh's family with him
Donation protected
Hello Facebook Friends and Family,
I have started this GoFundMe page for my nephew Kosh. Actually, for his family; mom Judy, step-dad Mike and brother Sean. Kosh is 22 years old and has been involved in an accident. On Friday November 27, Kosh and his friends were walking down a Guelph street around midnight when Kosh was hit by a car. He was thrown 20 feet and landed on his head. He was rushed to Hamilton Trauma Centre where his prognosis was very grim. He was measuring 3/15 on the trauma scale. We went down on Saturday and were able to spend some time with him. Judy was there already. By Saturday night he was moving his arms and legs but had a collapsed lung, broken collar bone, several facial lacerations and a brain bleed. He is intibated and on a feeding tube as well as balloons in his nose to stop the blood loss. It was one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever seen walking into his ICU room.
While we were there we were lucky enough to stay at The Mark Preece Family House. This is the most wonderful facility and beautiful building that has accomodations for the families of those in acute/critical care in Hamilton Hospitals. The rates are very reasonable and families find a peace and comfort there while they stay with their loved one. I cannot begin to express my gratitude to Lynn for her amazing hospitality and help and to the Mark Preece Family House volunteers for all they do.
As of today, Kosh is still unresponsive and on a breathing tube, but a CT Scan yesterday concluded the brain bleed has stopped but that there are severe brain injuries. It is a waiting game at this point. The neurologist has let us know that as time goes on Kosh may wake or he may stay as he is. He could be in the hospital for a month or more. If he comes around it will still be a while until we know the extent of his brain damage and what rehabilitation he may require and for how long. Kosh's mom Judy is staying there indefinitely. This fund-raising will go directly to Judy and Mike so they can afford to stay in Hamiliton with their son. Mike, Kosh's step-father, is currently off work awaiting heart surgery in the next two weeks after which he will be off work for at least 2 months. Judy has her hands full and I really wanted to help any way I can. So, realizing it is the Christmas season and money is tight for many of us, I thought if you and your family donated to a cause every year or did a random act of kindness, maybe this could be it. I am not talking big money, even $10, $20 would be soooo helpful and appreciated.
I thank you for taking the time to read Kosh's story and I wish every single one of you a safe, healthy, happy holiday season.
Much Love and Unending Thanks
Sheila
