Hi my name is Jenna Jaeger. Friday 2/3 @1:47 I got the call no wife ever wants to get. “Babe I was in an accident. She hit me. She turned in to me and my leg is bad. I NEED YOU HERE” I had no information other than it was his leg and it was bad. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

3 hours of sitting in the car parking lot waiting for some info. The hospital couldn’t confirm he was there for 3 hours.

Finally I was given the confirmation that he was there and in a room stable. The first time seeing him broke me. I could see the brokenness in my husbands eyes.

Nurses filled me in that my husband has a Tibial Plateau Fracture and a broken femur. He would be having at least 2 surgeries the first would be 2/4 to place an external cage on his leg to hold the bones still. Then the 2nd would be to remove the bars and place screws and a plate in his knee.

In PreOp the surgeon looked at his leg and gave us the unruly new time line of at least 10-14 days in the hospital until his swelling went down and fracture blisters went away before the next surgery could take place and he could go home.

He has a long road of recovery filled with Physical therapy and Occupational therapy. He will be out of work for at least 4 months. 2 of those months will be no weight on his leg at all.

I was told by the surgeon that he will need a full time care giver for at least 2 months which means little to no work for me. We have 2 little boys 9&5 who need their daddy home with them. We need him home with us.

He is the main break winner in our household.

We don’t like asking for help but we know we won’t be able to do this without help.
