Team Debo • Mission Trip Alaska!
Donation protected
Usually around this time of year (our birthdays!), we begin fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Walk in May. This year, we wanted to do something a little different and something that is, believe it or not, even closer to our hearts.
From July 24th-July 31st, a team from our home church, Crossroads Tyler , will be partnering with Alaska Missions to camp out on the Kenai River and serve the thousands of residents who will be participating in the Salmon Frenzy - The annual opportunity for locals to fish for their yearly allotment of salmon. Those ministering on the “beaches” will be setting up warming tents for the patrons and bounce houses for the kids; participating in prayer walking, traffic control, and trash pick-up; and serving free hot dogs, water, and hot cocoa to those participating in the Frenzy. There will also be another team in the missions kitchen who will be responsible for taking care of the missionaries themselves. It will be a week of long days and short nights, but who needs sleep with 22 hours of sunlight to take in, right?! ;)
Our hearts beat for loving on and doing our part to help heal the broken, and Alaska is recognized as having the highest suicide rate in the United States. The natural beauty of Alaska has always been something we have both wanted to see with our own eyes, and we can’t think of a better place to intentionally spread Christ’s love than on this incredible mission opportunity to Kenai. It would mean the world to us to be able to participate thanks to your generosity!
The $2100 we are raising funds for will cover our airfare from Seattle to Anchorage, bus transporation to Kenai, and the seven days of lodging that we'll be there. Our payment is due Thursday May 31st, so we request all donations be made by Tuesday, May 29th.
For all other information on exactly where we'll be going and what we'll be doing, feel free to visit the Alaska Missions website.
Thank you guys so much! God bless! <3
