Zack & Aranka Plea for Help...
My name is Anita, and I am writing today about my uncle Zack and aunt Aranka. Zack is 54 years old and on November 18th 2012, he suffered a major debilitating stroke that almost cost him his life. We praise God for His mercy in sparing him!
Prior to the stroke, Zack worked most of the day and night at two different jobs, while he and Aranka helped care for her ailing parents. Aranka also worked hard as a nanny for 3 dear children, and at a nursing home preparing food for the elderly, until they could no longer afford to pay her. Due to their limited schooling and a language barrier, the jobs they have been able to get have kept things tight.
After the stroke, Zack was not able to care for himself or work. Aranka took a lot of time off to care for her husband. They had previously let go of their health insurance because they couldn’t afford it. The stroke has caused them to be drowning in medical bills, from the ambulance ride, 30 day stay in the hospital, numerous CAT-SCANS & MRI’s, & later constant physical, vision, and speech therapies. Thankfully with help from our church, a few other individuals, and their entire inheritance from her parents passing, the hospital stay was covered, but the rest had to be put on credit cards. There are many times they are unable to make even the minimum payment.
Zack is in desperate need of the following 4 surgeries that he has been putting off because they haven’t been able to afford them. They recently were able to obtain a minimal insurance policy that excludes coverage for all therapy and has major out of pocket portions. This policy is not retro-active, so it does not cover any of their previous bills.
1. The nerve in his drooping eyelid must be repaired to alleviate major dryness, burning and constant pain.
2. He went completely blind in his right eye due to bleeding in his retina, so leaky blood vessels must be repaired in hope of restoring some sight in that eye.
3. He has a large hernia that must be repaired.
4. He needs special dental work to repair facial damage from the stroke to help improve his speech and ability to chew. If this last surgery is not completed very soon, his surgeon informed him that his previous expensive dental work will become obsolete.
Amidst all of this stress, Aranka developed a very painful autoimmune skin disorder. She was hospitalized, saw many doctors, medical and homeopathic, and tried different medications with no success. Thankfully with much prayer and research she found a natural way to manage the symptoms, but not before incurring even more medical bills.
Zack has worked really hard with his therapies to regain his balance, improve his speech and vision - enough to be approved to get a part-time job. Thank God!! But, sadly, despite going on interview after interview, he has been turned down every time.
They have hesitated and agonized over asking for help, but their financial situation only worsens as Zack’s health declines due to the unaffordable surgeries he needs. They humbly implore you now for both prayer and financial assistance.
Any donation is helpful and appreciated greatly! May the Lord richly bless each one that lends a hand to the needy among them!
Humbly - Anita, for Zack & Aranka Radosavcev
