My Olympic Journey

Qualify in the pole vault for:
2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada (July 20-26)
2015 IAAF World Outdoor Championships in Beijing, China (August 22-30)
2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (August 12-21)

I recently moved to Phoenix, AZ to train full-time with Coach Dean Starkey and the Arizona Pole Vault Academy (AZPVA). I feel very grateful for this amazing opportunity. In order to make this Olympic dream a reality, it is important that I keep my mind focused on the training aspect.

It takes an enormous amount of support and resources behind getting an athlete to the Olympics, not only for the Olympic year but during the years leading up to it. In order to lessen the emotional/physical/financial load, I am reaching out to you for your support! Anything you have to offer is greatly appreciated. I can guarantee any contributions you make towards my goal will be used to pursue the dream of becoming an Olympic level pole vaulter. These are expected costs of what it will take to for my journey to compete at the highest level:

 Meets & Travel: $4,000
Equipment (Poles/Training Gear): $4,500
Coaching: $3,000
Sports Medicine (PT, Chiropractic, etc…): $2,000

 About Me

I am from a northwest suburb of Chicago. I’ve dreamed my whole life of being a professional athlete, and I believe I have the determination, the drive and most of all the dedication to achieve this dream. Although focus on different sports has changed, the dream has remained the same. I started pole vaulting as a freshman at Crystal Lake Central High School. I fell in love with the sport. When I graduated, I evaluated my options and decided the best place for me to grow into the pole vaulter I knew I was, was to go to San Luis Obispo, CA to attend Cuesta College and train with Jan Johnson (Bronze medalist in the 1972 Summer Olympics). After improving over a foot, I searched for a top D1 school and program. I was impressed with the education, the coaching and the facilities and transferred to the University of Minnesota in 2011. There, I competed for 3 years for Steve Plasencia and earned a degree in Kinesiology.
