Hello Everyone,
This July, I’m setting out on the biggest adventure of my life: climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa (the summit is at 5'895 m). I'll be joined by my Dad, my brother Ethan, my Uncle Phil and a few experienced guides. In my profile photo, you can see me standing in front of Kili during our trip to Amboseli, Kenya, last year. From that distance, the mountain didn’t seem so daunting. But now, as I prepare to face it head-on, I know it will be an incredible challenge.
As part of my Bar Mitzvah, I want to do a mitzvah — a good deed — by going beyond my comfort zone in order to help others who aren’t as fortunate as I am. That’s why I’m dedicating this climb to raising money for two amazing charities: Swiss Board of Aid (www.swissboardofaid.ch), which is working to build a home and learning environment for underprivileged, special needs children in East London, South Africa and Foundation Theodora (www.theodora.ch), a charity that brings joy and comfort to children in hospital.
Climbing Kilimanjaro is no small feat - there will definitely be tough moments, but I’m ready to push myself in honour of the children and families these charities support. Your contribution, even a small amount, will make a real difference.
Those who donate can follow my journey. We will post updates as I travel and climb — sharing the highs, the challenges, and (hopefully!) the amazing moment when I reach the summit. I would love to take you along with me on this adventure.
Thank you, ️
Zach
