Zach is a 16-year-old who was diagnosed with cancer in January 2021. He has Osteosarcoma, which is the most common bone cancer in children, and there are about 1000 cases per year. When that cancer spreads to the lungs, patients have less than 27% chance of survival.

While Zach was diagnosed early, he already had cancer in his lungs. We’ve been fighting aggressively with chemo. In order to cut out the main tumor, Zach had his left leg amputated above the knee in April.

Unfortunately, Zach’s cancer hasn’t responded well to chemotherapy, and we are exploring what future treatments may be possible, but as of right now, Zach will not survive his cancer. (He doesn’t know that yet.) We don’t have a timeline, but his cancer has moved very aggressively, and we are hopeful that he will be with us for a few more months if not longer.

Zach has always loved a number of home remodeling shows, and particularly loves the Vanilla Ice Project (VIP), where the 80’s rapper turned home flipper remodels estates in southern Florida. Vanilla Ice adds over the top flair that an 80’s rapper would bring to the table and Zach specifically loves the backyards and all the things that the VIP team dream up. He watches the show every night before he goes to bed.

His biggest wish is to have a blinged out backyard, more specifically a new big deck, with a firepit, a pizza oven, comfy furniture and a place for him to mix non-alcoholic drinks that he calls Zachtails.

Zach has inspired so many people during his journey with cancer, he maintains a positive attitude and keeps pushing forward each and every day. He has kept his sense of humor and his smile. He would love to have this dream fulfilled.

These funds will help us outfit his deck with everything he wants. If we raise more than requested, they will fund the materials and labor. And if we go beyond that, we will donate the rest to one of the best charities to support families that face OsteoSarcoma, MIB Agents.
