My name is Zachary Harkins and I am currently a Life Scout in Troop 642. As my last step towards earning my Eagle Scout award I must conduct an Eagle Scout service project. For my project I will be enhancing an existing deck area on the playground of The Yellow School so that it can be used as an outdoor fine arts area. The Yellow School was founded in 1974 and is a part of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church’s Children Ministries. The School serves children ages three through kindergarten. They provide a Christian environment where children are encouraged to express creativity and independent thinking. My two siblings, along with myself attended The Yellow School and I am glad to have this opportunity to give back to an organization that built a strong foundation for my continued learning. My project will consist of installing six posts connected by five rails around the back of the deck. In addition, I will also be constructing a music board out of recycled household items and a weaving board out of a metal mesh grid. I will also repair an existing chime box already on the deck and replace the current bushes with brighter and more colorful flowers.
