To all our friends and family of Zach Blankenbiller. I’m his Aunt Becky. As you may or may not know, Zach was just diagnosed with APL leukemia & is being treated at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.  His prognosis is good and while he has insurance, his medical bills will exceed $6000 this year alone. Additionally after his first round of treatment, he will need to live in Philadelphia for some additional time which will require hotel and living costs along with a family member staying with him.  Zach’s wages can’t cover these expenses.  Zach's step dad is chronically ill with stage 5 kidney failure and the family finances are already stretched. 

Zach was lucky to have discovered the leukemia when he did and we are fortunate in that sense.  To give you an idea of who Zach is as a person, after the doctor discussed his treatment plan including blood transfusions, she asked him if he had any questions.  His first question was "Will I be able to donate blood again in the future so that I will be able to pay it forward, since I'll be taking so much out of the system." (Zach is a rare blood type).  The doctor said she never had a patient ask such as a selfless question in his position.  This question shouldn't surprise anyone who knows him.  He's the first person to feed someone who's hungry, stop to help a stray animal, or offer a ride to a co-worker. 

Anything you can send will help him. He’s always the first one who gives of himself and now it’s his time in need.   When he's better and can pay it forward, we all know he will.
