It’s Crazy How Life Works..
I know it’s odd to create a GoFundMe page for my clients, but getting to know Zach & Debi over the last 5 weeks they have both found a spot in my heart and it has compelled me to tell our story.
Debi reached out to me a little over a month ago saying she and Zach were ready to move back to Stillwater! We started the home search a few days later, and she brought her son Zach along to help find their new spot to live! After talking with Zach about our mutual friends, how much fun downtown Stillwater is, how he is an electrician (and how I have minor electrical issues I needed his help with), I knew I had made a couple new lifelong friends!
Fast forward to the third house we looked at that day. We walk in the house and they both lit up with excitement, we all couldn’t believe how perfect it was. OH! And Zach’s good friend Dan lives nextdoor! Cue Zach being PUMPED. Debi says, “We don’t even need to go to the next house, this is it!” Debi and I start planning furniture inside the home while Dan & Zach start planning their backyard fence plans... it was perfect.
Days later, after we get the Woodbury townhouse on the market, get an accepted purchase agreement, all was looking up and there was a reason to get some fine steaks and have a nice dinner to celebrate! The move is happening!!
Until a receive a sad, unexplainable phone call from Debi saying that Zach had passed... UM WHAT?? Zach was doing his thing, grilling some steaks, cooking a celebratory dinner for his mom, brother and himself, when he didn’t feel right, sat on the couch and slipped away.
Is this real life? Things shouldn’t happen like this at such a happy time in someone’s lives.
Understandably overwhelmed, Debi with having no idea what to do with her current situation, decided she couldn’t move forward with the home sale/purchase. Too much, too fast. As sad as it is, it was probably the right decision. Her best friend & son passing, planning memorial service, buying a house, selling a house, way too much for someone to do in such a short amount of time.
The move was off.
Couple days days go by. Debi calls me at 7:30 AM on a Friday, I knew something was up.
“Taylor, I need to make this move. I think it is what Zach has been doing for me this whole time. It’s what he wants me to do. He set it up. He put me in that house for a reason and put me next to Dan. He picked out the perfect spot in Stillwater that he liked and he knew it’s what is good for me. So, the move is back on. Stillwater here I come!”
Cue my goosebumps, and tears.
Please help donate to Zach’s memorial fund! If you have ever lost a loved one, or have bought & sold a house, you know money is a stressful topic and certainly in Debi’s current situation shouldn’t be a worry.
