Everyone,
This is a Memorial fund for Zach Pulley. The funds raised here will go to a memorial fund that has been set up at Simmons Bank under the name "Zach Pulley Memorial Fund".
Zachary Dean Pulley, born in Athens, Texas to Mike and Joni Pulley on February 4, 1985, went to be with Jesus on February 4, 2025, at the age of 40.
Zach was preceded in death by his loving mom, Joni Pulley, in 1992; his grandparents, Bill Jones, Annette Pulley, and Dean Pulley. Survivors include his dad, Mike Pulley (Pam Tedford), Jennifer (Ashley) Williams, Will (Dorothy) Pulley, Lenard Crabb (Joslynn Johnson); his niece and nephews: Macy, Will, Braxton, and Liam; cousins: Wayne Roark, Preston (Jenna) Pulley, Caleb Pulley, Andrew (Danielle) Pulley; grandmother, Lurline Jones "Gammie".
Zach was a devoted son, brother, uncle, grandson, and friend.
Zach was raised in Athens, TX, was a committed long-time resident, and he truly loved the people of East Texas. He graduated from Athens High School in 2003 with honors as a multi-sport athlete, lettering in varsity football as a sophomore and joining the swimming and track teams. He also loved playing tennis with his grandmother, Nana, and piled into the minivan with his cousins and grandparents for many Eustace Bulldog football games. Zach was voted class president and was a member of the National Honor Society and Key Club. From childhood, Zach loved animals and as an adult adopted 3 dogs, Dixie, Scooter, and Karl, who were loyal companions.
To know Zach was to love him. His laugh. His giving heart. His generosity was like no other. Zach never met a stranger. He loved to inspire others by bringing many friends and family along on his adventures and service projects including several mission trips to North Dakota, Africa, and Ecuador; remodeling of the Love in Action Homeless Ministry; donation of food and meals to Lila Lane; remodeling of East Texas Crisis Center; supporter of Isaiah House 1:17; construction projects for the Henderson County Livestock Show; volunteer with Rock Hill Church, Chandler; volunteer with Call 2 Recovery; coach for Little League football and baseball; and a tamale fundraiser to donate money to others. Zach entertained many friends as a loyal fan and season ticket holder for the Dallas Cowboys. Anyone who had the pleasure of having a meal with Zach knows he was an avid cook and loved to serve others, including cooking for many family members, his church family, and friends. Zach and his friends were known to call Zach’s grandmother, Gammie, after a late-night adventure to enjoy Gammie’s home-cooked hamburgers and visits into the early morning. Zach was an avid golfer and had the vision and drive to create a golfer’s and music lover’s oasis in East Texas at Baxter Pitch ‘N Putt, TX. He had an eye for real estate and along with his family created WPP Properties, Pulley Boyz Properties, and he was nearing the completion of his real estate license. Zach’s heart for others extended into the community through his service with Athens Kiwanis Club, Athens Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Cardinals, Member of the ‘24-25 Leadership Athens, and a recent appointment as President of the Cain Center Board.
A Memorial service for Zach Pulley will be on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the Living for the Brand Cowboy Church in Athens, Texas at 2:00 p.m. Under the direction of Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home. Later that same day, a Celebration of Life will be held at The Texan in Athens, Texas at 5:30 p.m.
