Zach Moggach's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
This fund is set up for Zach and his family during a time of incredible heartache, to help them navigate a long road of recovery and treatment. This fund will help Zach and Shanon with the financial burdens ahead from things such as critical home renovations, medical equipment, job loss, and rehabilitation.

On August 16, 2022, while working on a remote camp project in Valemount BC, Zach got into a mountain biking accident. Those who know Zach know that he is very cautious and meticulous in everything he does. While mountain biking he hit an uneven surface and flew over his handlebars landing on his forehead. The impact from the fall left him instantly paralyzed from the chest down.

Zach was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital’s Spinal Unit and has had surgery to stabilize his severed spine at T5/T6. He is currently in critical care with no certainty of the duration of his stay. Once stable, he will be transferred to GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre for acute rehabilitation.

After many years of hardship and 3 open heart surgeries, Zach was looking forward to visiting his family in Ontario, and he was finally taking time for himself and his loved ones. He was working on creating a better work-life balance after several years of dedicating his life to his career as a crane operator.

As you can imagine, this is a very challenging time and these two will need all the support they can get. We want Zach and Shanon to remain focused on recovery, rather than expending energy worrying about how they are going to pay their bills and make the necessary changes to their home/lives. This accident has been a wake-up call for everyone around them and is a reminder for all of us that life can change in an instant. We must appreciate and cherish the small things, and LIVE life unimpeded.

In addition, to the help the family needs with living expenses and preparing the home for Zach's return; your prayers, thoughts, and LOVE are genuinely needed and appreciated. Zach and Shanon are so unbelievably grateful for the outpour of well wishes. They have been a source of hope and joy during this trying chapter and do not go unnoticed.

With love and gratitude,

Sylvie, Chelsey, and family.
