Zach Greene's Road to Recovery
On Saturday 8-14-21 Zach wanted to take advantage of the beautiful summer day to go 'cruisin' on his new 'pride & joy'. For those of you that are close to Zach, you know how much owning and riding his motorcycle meant to him. It made Zach feel closer to our dad, who passed away 2 years ago. Tragically, that beautiful summer afternoon ended abruptly less than 2 miles from his home. Zach was on his way home to go school supply shopping with his son, who starts kindergarten on the 24th, when someone pulled out infront of him. Zach was catapulted 38' away from where the impact occurred, and landed on the road. Zachariah was not wearing a helmet at the time, and he tragically obtained critical injuries to his head. Zach was life flighted to a Trauma I hospital in Cleveland. At this time we know that Zach suffers from multiple skull fractures, several large brain bleeds, many brain contusions, many complex facial fractures, and several arterial abnormalities.
Zach is a hard working provider. He is a father, fiancé, friend, brother, uncle, and son. He is a proud member of the Local 1090 Piledrivers union. Zach is the rock to not only his sweet family of 4, but also to his mother, siblings, and many nieces and nephews (especially these last few years). Zach is well known for always helping people, in any way possible, even a perfect stranger.
Zach is currently in the trauma ICU, sedated and on a ventilator. We will not know the full extent of his head trauma until they are able to remove the ventilator, and assess him off of sedation. We are hopeful that will be no longer than a week, but there is no typical timeline for this kind of injury - Traumatic Brain Injuries all heal differently. While the details of the long journey ahead are unknown, we do know the road is a long and bumpy one. They expect Zach to remain in the hospital for several weeks, and at this point believe he will need to go to a rehab center to continue to recuperate.
While we don't know the specifics of what Zach will need, we do know he will not be able to continue to work for the foreseeable future. We are thankful Zach is still here with us. We believe that although this accident is devastating, it could have been even worse yet. We are forever grateful to all of the amazing trauma team members that continue to provide around the clock care. We trust and believe that God has a plan and will continue to protect Zachariah during this critical time.
My name is Andrea King and I am trying to raise money to help provide some peace of mind for Tayler and their kids. Zach was the sole provider. Any funds received will be used to pay things such as mortgage, utilities, car payment, insurance, parking fee's at the hospital and all other essentials his family needs. We understand that not everyone is able to donate, and we trust the Lord will provide.
We ask everyone to please pray for Zach and this long road ahead of him. Please pray that any damage from the head trauma is minimal, and can be reversible. Pray for Tayler and the kids, for strength and peace. Pray for his mother, siblings, family and friends, as they are all hurting during this difficult time.
I will continue to provide updates to this post throughout Zach's journey to recovery. Thank you for your love and support.
