Zach Charles recovery fund
Donation protected
As many of you may be aware, Zach Charles was significantly injured during an attack against him while at a large party with approximately 100 teenagers. He was beaten by multiple people then ran over after he was left lying unconscious. At the scene Zach stopped breathing and CPR was provided to revive him. Zach was flown directly to the ICU at Charleston Area Medical Center in the very early hours of the 9th where he is currently being treated for a shattered jaw, a crushed pelvis, and a fractured spine. He is improving, he will survive, but the recovery will be very long. Best case scenario it will be months before he is even able to walk again.
Over the course of the next few weeks and months while he recovers and the investigation impacts their life, Zach’s parents will have significant financial hardships. Not only will the income be eliminated or significantly reduced, they will incur additional cost such as travel back and forth to hospitals/doctors’ offices, additional improvements on their home to accommodate a person with limited mobility, upfront medical fees or costs that will not be immediately covered / reimbursed. Zach’s parents are too modest to ask for help, these are the same people who even during times of their own financial hardship they offered free photography sessions to those who had challenges paying those fees themselves. In fact, when my wife and I talked about ways we could help, we asked them if they would be okay if we did this for them and they refused at first. They currently rely solely on the income from their photography business and after a long discussion about how they cannot work because of the time and the mental distraction that this is taking on them, and how their income has basically been eliminated, they finally agreed to let us do this for them.
All money raised will be given directly to Teresa to use as needed for medical and general living expenses.
Currently there is a police investigation underway so we must be very careful with the information that we share. We will provide updates as we feel we can.
We are grateful from the bottom of our hearts for any help that you provide.
