Zac's recovery fund

Many people have asked me how they can help my brother in law Steve and Vickie. As many of you know, their 21 year old son, Zac suffered a stroke and severe heat stroke in August. Zac was found in his car unconscious and put on life support. He was in a coma and paralyzed and doctors did not expect him to make it. Through the grace of God and the power of prayer, Zac came out of the coma and is currently receiving very aggressive physical, occupational and speech therapy at Alta Bates in Oakland, which is nearly 100 miles away from their home in Oakdale. Zac is improving every day but this is going to be a long process for him and his family. I believe much of his progress is due to the loving care and extreme dedication of his parents. Since this happened, they have been by his side nearly 24/7, sleeping in his room on whatever is available. Neither of them are working as they are literally living at the hospital with Zac. This hard-working, God loving family who have given so much of themselves to their family, friends and community (as well as country as Steve is a decorated Vietnam veteran), can use some help. Travel expenses, parking and 3 meals a day away from home add up quickly. The plan is to bring Zac home when he is released from Alta Bates so there will be the added cost of retrofitting their home to make it safe for Zac - railings will be a must and possibly a ramp as well. All things are possible with a little help from friends. Prayers and positive thoughts for Zac's continued progress are always welcome.
