Bennett Reeder and family

Our sweet Bennett was born at 28 weeks weighing 1lb 13oz. A week after he was born, the doctors did a head ultrasound (a standard test done on premature babies). They found that he had developed a grade 3 and grade 4 bilateral brain bleed. The doctors have explained to us that with these types of bleeds, some babies will have deficits later down the road. However, at this time, there is no way to know what those deficits will be. We've been told it can range anywhere from
him needing a wheelchair to get around, to having no deficits at all. They can not predict what will happen.  They have also explained to us that specific therapies and one on one attention can, possibly, be very beneficial to him.

At this time, the latest ultrasound has shown that the majority of the bleed has been reabsorbed and they are seeing minimal damage. They have seen a clot in the white matter of his brain and ,again, they don't know what that will mean for him in the future.

With all this information that we have received, we have decided the best thing for Bennett and our family is for me to no longer work and stay home with Bennett to make sure he is getting the attention he needs and deserves.

Of course, all of this has become a bit of a financial burden for us. We haven't even started receiving the medical bills yet. And as most of you know, Bennett's big brother Owen was also a micro preemie. So we have a little bit of an idea of what those bills are going to be. Between the expenses we have endured with driving to and from the hospital, the medical bills we are going to receive, and the income we will be losing, the financial side of all of this has become quite stressful.

Our family thanks you in advance for any support you can give. Your love and prayers have been amazing.  And we are continuing to see this (second) miracle boy continue to grow and show so much courage and strength.
