My name is Brittany, and I am Kim’s daughter!

On September 4th, mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, specifically Invasive Mammary Carcinoma stage 1A. I will go on to explain when it all started and where she is now!

Our lives were turned upside down when a phone call announced, “It’s cancer!” However, we are incredibly grateful and optimistic after meeting with a remarkable team of doctors.

Mom had a routine mammogram on 1/23/2025 that showed a group of calcifications in the upper inner left breast that was indeterminate. Second imaging led to a stereotactic biopsy.

2/14/2025- breast biopsy lead to the finding very focal atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH) in a background of columnar cell alterations with micro calcifications. Non cancerous.

May 9th surgery to remove the mass, localized lumpectomy was preformed.

Aug. 19th follow up with Dr. Kaster post surgery in May.
Today mom had an MRI, mammogram and ultrasound; Postoperative changes in left breast. There is a seroma within the left lumpectomy bed, a 3 x 3 x 7 mm irregular enhancing mass in the left breast.

Sept. 2nd breast biopsy performed.

Sept. 4th Dr Kaster called around 4pm with results of the biopsy and mom diagnosed with; Invasive mammary carcinoma with mixed ductal and lobular features, preliminary Nottingham grade 1.

Sept 18th-
Dr Ellis; Breast Surgeon- surgery for localized lumpectomy is set for September 30th, she will localize the mass and preform the surgery to remove it. Recovery will be the same as previous lumpectomy.

Dr Panwalker the medical oncologist spoke about invasive ductal carcinoma being a non aggressive cancer and determined it to be Stage 1A with a 90-95% cure rate! He will meet with mom 3 weeks post op of her lumpectomy.

Dr Ellis- Radiation Oncologist; radiation treatment will consist of 15 treatments daily, Monday through Friday and will start approximately 6 weeks after Sept. 30th. The radiation will treat the entire breast as well as lymph nodes stretching from the breast to the lower portion of the armpit.

At this time any funds raised will be used for travel expenses, hotel stays and lost wages during mom’s course of treatment. If you are unable to help financially, we totally understand but ask that you would keep our mom in your thoughts and prayers as she goes through treatment the next few months!!
