This Gofundme page is being started for Deadra Gladden by her immediate family members...The Gladdens and The Striblings to help with funeral cost, the cost to publish her book and also to travel to Washington DC this spring to share her story for Palliative Care and Samaritan Hospice.
Deadra Ryan Gladden was diagnosed with Lupus at the young age of 14. After being diagnosed she was no longer able to continue playing the game she loved which was basketball. She persevered through high school and graduated from Life Center Academy High School. Following graduation Deadra was able to move out on her own at the age of 18. She received devastating news at the age of 19 that she had total kidney failure and she would need dialysis. Deadra begin to start dialysis three days a week which enabled her to still manage to maintain a job working with children. While on dialysis Deadra had multiple seizures that landed her in the hospital many times. In 2008 Deadra was able to receive a kidney transplant from her father but within a year the kidney rejected which resulted in Deadra being required to go back on dialysis. Over the span of five years Deadra had open heart surgery, gallbladder and failed kidney removed, numerous gatheters and picc lines that were surgically inserted and removed, feeding tubes inserted into her stomach and a screen put in for blood clots. This all led to Deadra being in and out of the hospital for days, weeks and months at a time. And if you think that was not enough Deadra had a stroke causing nerve damage and she also became wheelchair bound for the final years of her young life. During her final years of life Deadra encountered Dr. Holler and Palliative care which helped her a great deal in pain management and the quality of life.
Deadra started to write a book so her story can be heard and touch the lives of others who are going through or may just need encouragement to keep fighting no matter what they maybe be going through. Her dying wish was for her story to be heard and her legacy to live on..so she asked her sister and brother to finish writing her book she started and also have her book published.
In her final days Deadra was on hospice in the care of Samaritan and was still able to touch the lives of others. On January 15th Deadra was called home to be with the Lord. Through it all Deadra fought to her very last breath.
If you have been touched by Deadra story feel free to give a donation so we continue to carry on her legacy.
Thank you for your support and continued prayers!
