Before anything, let me start off by telling you a little bit about my dad. He was always energetic, optimistic, and loved to play golf whenever he can. He is the type of dad that you would meet from a friend, never stopping with the dad jokes and always trying to make a good vibe where ever and whenever he goes.
He currently owns a small nail salon with my mom. Ever since the pandemic began, the business just became worse and worse. The small help from the government and state was too little to keep the business alive. During the pandemic he was diagnosed with Covid-19 and had severe symptoms which ended up him having to go to the ER for shortness of breath. The business had to close for 2 weeks due to this tragic event. Even when he had Covid-19, he was worried and felt apologetic to the customers that he couldn't satisfy.
Currently, he is getting sued for unpaid rents. Not only that, another tragic and heart broken event has happened to him and our family.
Recently, he was diagnosed with "Acute Myeloid Leukemia" also known as AML in July 20th, 2022. He was cured from Covid-19 which happened a year and a half ago, went to play golf like it was his weekly routine. But then one day he started to feel out of breath and felt tired throughout the day. So, he went to the doctor for a blood test. When the result came out, the doctor recommended him to go to the E.R. as soon as he can to get his health checked out. He went to the E.R. and had another blood test there. The results came out as bad as it did from the blood test that the family doctor took. He had to receive blood transfusion on the day he entered the E.R. and they wanted to do extra blood test on him. They stated he will be in the hospital for few days.
2 Days after receiving the blood transfusion, he was recommended to take a bone marrow biopsy. This examines his bone marrow to closely look at the White blood cells, Red blood cells, and Platelets count. To shortly explain the roles of these cells: White blood cell - fights bacterias and infections, Red blood cells - brings oxygen throughout the body, Platelets - help blood clots so there is no hemmorhage or internal bleeding.
When the result of the bone marrow biopsy came out, we were shocked to hear that he is diagnosed with AML. When I heard this, my body felt cold and just teared up.
Now he is receiving Chemotherapy (Induction Chemo) and it has been a week since his treatment. His blood counts aren't stable yet due to the after effect of the Chemotherapy. Doctor states that he will go through 2nd cycle of Chemotherapy (Consolidation Chemo).
With all due to pandemic and inflation, my parents have made little to no profit. Because of this it was hard for them to pay the rent for the business. He made sure that the employees got their weekly salary even if he didn't make anything. I can't even imagine about the medical bills...
All your cheers, hopes and prayers or anything would be greatly appreciated. Please help him to get better and beat Leukemia so that he can bring happiness to more people.
Everyone's small help will definitely save him from his devastating moment of his life.
He still smiles and tries to make people around him happy.
Thank you everyone for the support!
