Dave is originally from West Scranton and his family is currently living in Harrisburg Pa. He lives with his wife Amanda and 4 year old son Mason.
On May 17th he went to the ER with abdominal pain and had his appendix removed. Unfortunately this was not normal appendicitis as the pathologies showed that he had a rare form of cancer. During the surgery a rupture in the appendix allowed some spilling of a cancerous mucus into the abdomen causing a concern of potential spreading.
On June 14th there was a second surgery to remove the right side of the colan and the lymph nodes in that area. Dave will now start chemotherapy on July 16th with the hope of mitigating the possibility of things spreading somewhere else.
Dave and his family are planning to move back to Scranton once he starts his treatment to be closer to their support system. He has been on leave from his primary job and had to leave his secondary part time job since he had the first surgery. He will be unable to work for several months during the treatment. Any funds that are raised during this campaign will be used for medical expenses, moving costs, and to keep their bills up to date.
