As most of you know my brother was in severe motorcycle accident on Thursday (6/9/2022). He was hit by a car and was taken to Gundersen Lutheran. Upon arriving in ER they identified he had severe TBI, blood spots in front and rear of brain, blood pooling in the ventricles (based on CT ONLY, not stable enough for MRI), small contusion (not fill puncture but was leaking oxygen into his chest cavity, massive bruise around the contusion, multiple broken and fractured ribs, broken scapula, fractures in vertebrae. So they moved him straight to CCU for close motoring.
On Friday (6/10) the Pneumothorax in his chest increased and began building pressure in his chest cavity and started collapsing lung so they placed chest tube to release air from chest cavity but when they did the lung re-inflated as expected following them placing the tube. They also did a CT scan to determine the bleeding and realized that he has more blood from the original scan but this was expected.
He is aware, but as pain meds wear off he becomes more lucid and doesn’t really remember where he is and just wants to get out of there, so they have upped his pain medicine to keep him from ripping out his IV again.
Friday (6/12) they are talking about moving him from the CCU to neurology where they can more closely monitor his brain for swelling or any changes, since the rest of the injuries have essentially stabilized and just need to heal which well take time more or less.
With all of this being said Jamie has a long recovery ahead of him. Which is going to require him to have to take them off of work. With the brain damage he’s looking into weeks and possibly needing extra treatment on the brain after release. The bills are going to start stacking up and he’s gonna need all the help support he can get.
All that said any donations are welcome. If you can donate every little bit will help him and Gabby during this long journey on the road to recovery.
