Chit Rocks Beach Ramp Project

We are a group of local residents, supported by Sidmouth Coastal Community Hub CIC and we are raising funds for the construction of an access ramp that will help marginalised groups and address a major inequality of access here in the town of Sidmouth. This ramp will help literally thousands of people. At the moment access to the sandy beach is restricted because of the heavily pebbled foreshore and steep steps. Frail and disabled residents and visitors are unable to engage with the natural environment along the beach front because of this barrier and many parents and grandparents experience real difficulties in getting onto the sand with pushchairs and toddlers in tow. The project is supported by the Town and District councils.

The construction has been costed at 250k and funding is being raised in a number of different ways including donations and grants.
