Hi everyone! My name is Olivia, and I started this GoFundMe in hopes of gaining support for my family’s paralyzed cat, Waffles.
A little bit of background: My dad has been deployed overseas for about a year and a half, leaving my mom at home to take care of my three younger brothers and our two other pets while I’m away at college. Because she’s a stay-at-home-mom and I’m away and paying for tuition, our dad is the only provider for our family of 6.
We adopted Waffles during my dad’s deployment, and he’s played a huge role in my family’s emotional support since then.
I’m starting this fundraiser because recently, he went missing for a few days, and we were horrified to find him unable to properly use his two hind legs.
After taking him to the emergency veterinary clinic, X-rays showed that his back left leg is broken, and after further review, we discovered severe compression in his spine that caused the of paralysis in his back right leg.
The cause of this remains a mystery to us as Waffles was out missing for days, but what we know is he experienced severe trauma to the head and, of course, his two legs.
In order for Waffles to heal effectively, we’re looking to raise about $2,500 to cover the costs of FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy), which refers to the surgery of his broken left leg, and, unfortunately, the highly likely amputation of his right leg.
Together, both surgeries have an estimated total of roughly $1,500 dollars. However, the additional costs of blood work, anesthesia, pain medication, consistent follow up visits, and our recent specialist visit raises our estimated costs to about $2,500 dollars.
If you’re in a position to help donate, any contribution— even as small as a dollar or two— would help support both Waffles recovery and my family’s overall wellbeing during these chaotic times.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all for the love and support. ❤️
