Help Martin Lopez get back home

Who this will help
Our beloved father, Martin Lopez, recently passed on December 19th. Martin was a wonderful son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of those around him through laughter and joy. He leaves behind 4 children and 9 grandchildren.

Our father was born in San Francisco, La Chigolo Oaxaca (Mexico). He came from a relativaly small family by Latino standards but he had strong family values and instilled that into all of his children. He dedicated his life to loving his family and living everyday to the fullest.

Unfortunately, his health took a turn last year after the death of his brother. His health further deteriorated when his mother suffered a stroke and he was unable to travel to see her. The pain was too much for his heart to bear and he passed away.

We are all devastated by his loss and find ourselves in a diffulcult position as we are covering the cost of our grandmother in the hospital and our father’s funeral.

We want to bring Martin back home and give him the traditional Zapoteco Funeral and bury him amongst his loved ones.

We are currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of the International Funeral Shipping and memorial service. We need to raise $7000.00 to get our father back home and to his final resting place.

International Funeral Shipping, Memorial and Burial

Zapoteco Funeral
In Oaxaca, it is believed that when a person dies, their soul enters a luminal state, remaining tied to the earth. For the first nine days after death, the deceased (difunto) remains in their former home. On the evening of the funeral and for the next eight days, people gather in the home of the deceased reciting prayers for his soul's salvation.
