Support a team of storytellers: Dot's story at Sanger Lake
Donation protected
Please join us in supporting the production of The Outcast at Sanger Lake, a documentary short featuring Dot Fisher-Smith – beloved community member, therapist, artist, group facilitator, activist, backpacker – and a powerful story, recounted through Dot’s memory and reflections.
The Outcast at Sanger Lake explores the power of connection, compassion and peace in the face of violence. In 1970, at the age of 42, Dot Fisher-Smith witnessed a murder at a remote lake in Northern California, and then went on to spend an entire day with the murderer. Now, 54 years later, Dot reveals her extraordinary experience of survival and explores her lifelong commitment to nonviolence.
A devoted group of seven artists and producers, including Dot, have volunteered for over a year to co-create this compelling documentary.
All funds raised will be used to finalize production of the film. Donations of all sizes are appreciated (suggested donation amounts are set automatically by the gofundme website, not our team).
The film is set for release in late summer or early fall of 2025.
