Rob, our wonderful friend and colleague, arrived in Orlando, Florida at the end of November for his work with the Tennis Channel. Rob started to feel something wasn’t right and after a few days his health was so compromised he had to be taken to the ER at a local hospital.

That was the start of a long and harrowing health challenge. Rob was immediately joined at the hospital by his family—Mom, Eva; sisters Sharon and Tressa, and brother, Garry. They remained with Rob over the next few weeks helping to advocate for his treatment.
Rob was diagnosed with a serious infection with both his white and red blood cell counts being dangerously low. While the infection was addressed Rob received several blood transfusions and myriad tests and procedures were performed. He was moved to another Orlando hospital better able to find the cause of his illness. The research and diagnoses are ongoing.

It took nearly 3½ weeks for Rob to regain enough strength to make the trip back to Southern California. With the support of his family, he was transported by ambulance from the Orlando hospital to MCO, flew to LAX, and then an ambulance transferred him to Cedars-Sinai Hospital. After overcoming the challenges of cross-country travel while being ill he met more at the seriously overbooked hospital-- including getting a room. After spending the night in the ER hallway, he was finally admitted and spent the Christmas weekend with family and friends visiting.

Having spent one month in hospitals, the prognosis is not finalized but, at this point, he is stable and strong enough to be released to his home in Ventura. The specialists are continuing their research and there will be many tests and follow-up visits until doctors can confirm the root cause of the blood issue and determine a course of action. Rob will undergo physical therapy to regain his strength; he has lost over 30 pounds through this experience. This is a challenge you know he will not only excel at but enjoy.

Rob’s road to recovery is long, but we all know him, and how he will fight through this with his wonderful, dedicated nature to push ahead—always positive and full of love for his family and friends.

Hopefully, we can all show Rob our love and appreciation by giving him financial support. We need to be sure our friend is focusing his energy on his health, and not the financial challenge of this major medical experience.

Thanks for your support and help.
