It has been a long week for Megan. Many of you have been following and know that Sunday night after performing with her team she suffered a sudden cardiac arrest when walking off stage at CHEERSPORT Nationals.
Thankfully Varsity had all the right people on hand. The EMTs and on-site doctor were able to start chest compressions and had a defibrillator ready. Their quick action SAVED her life.
She was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where she had a fantastic team supplying her with 24-hour care in the cardiac ICU.
After many, many tests the medical team agreed that it was going to be necessary for her to have a defibrillator surgically implanted.
Megan has had her surgery, been released from the hospital and is at home with her family.
We want to take a second to thank everybody who has reached out to send love, support, and kind words. Megan truly appreciates it. She read so many of your thoughtful and caring posts when in the hospital that helped her get through each day.
We ask that you continue to send prayers and thoughts because now her road to recovery has started not just physically but mentally. The events of Sunday have weighed heavy on her mental state.
As she takes time away from work to heal her body and mind we have set up a GoFundMe with the hopes of alleviating some of the financial stress of hospital bills and unexpected travel.
Now that she has returned home, she will have to travel to find a cardiologist and neurologist to meet with regularly.
Your well wishes and prays are felt and much needed.
Thank you so much.
