This GoFundMe page has been set up to help much-loved Aaron Farnham following a stroke.
Aaron suffered a very significant Ischemic stroke on the morning of June 10, 2020 and was rushed to Joseph Brant Hospital where he received immediate treatment. This type of stroke is caused by a blockage in an artery that supplies blood to the brain. In Aaron’s case, he is suffering from a 95% blockage in his right artery which still requires surgery to unblock the artery. Aaron’s surgery has been delayed until he is stable enough to assure the best possible outcome. In technical terms a hemorrhagic transformation (HT) was found through a CT scan, which is bleeding into an area of the ischemic brain. Aaron has some cognitive brain damage and has lost function of the left side of his body. He currently is completely dependent on medical staff. Aaron has a long and difficult road ahead of him, with occupational therapy, physio and speech therapies. His brain continues to heal but his timeline and ability to recover is uncertain. He will only be able to go home when he can get out of bed on his own and transfer into a wheelchair.
For Aaron to be able to rehabilitate at home, where everyone believes he will thrive and make the greatest gains his house will require substantial updates and renovations to make it wheelchair accessible and to allow Leslie and his kids to help him continue his many treatments. The organizers of this GoFundMe page are hoping to raise $75,000 to help with his long-term recovery and specialized medical care. The setup of his home environment, and day to day expenses will require all the financial support and help he can get.
To know Aaron, is to love him. Aaron, his wife Leslie, and his rehabilitation team at Joseph Brant, have such a positive attitude towards his recovery. It is impossible to imagine how stressful this must be, with limited health benefits, the loss of one income and the uncertainty that lies ahead. The foreseeable future can only be taken one day at a time.
Aaron has not lost his sense of humor and he continues to be upbeat, kind, and friendly to everyone he meets. Please, let’s help this wonderful man keep up all the daily positive improvements and contribute in any way we can to his long-term health, happiness and well-being and returning to a normal life as possible.
The Farnham’s are reaching out for help to assist with Aaron’s long journey ahead. Your support will go towards medical costs, required medical equipment, renovations as well as other financial obligations they have.
Please give generously to help this family man return to being a Husband, Father,
Grandparent and Friend. Any contribution you make will help tremendously. Every dollar given will go directly to Aaron and his family so he can focus on the long road ahead.
