JIM NEWELL NEEDS OUR HELP!
Donation protected
San Miguel Playhouse founder and Artistic Director Jim Newell took a bad fall on May 6 and broke his femur and hip. He underwent hip replacement surgery at La Joya hospital on Tuesday, May 10th. It was anticipated that he would be released to go home on May 12th; however, his stay in the La Joya was extended due to complications. He arrived home on May 15th and, his doctors have said he will need 24-hour home care for at least two weeks in addition to prolonged physical therapy. Jim and Judy Newell have medical insurance, but it will not come close to covering all the expenses needed for Jim to make a full recovery.
Jim is strong-willed and determined to get back on his feet because he intends to return to the stage of the San Miguel Playhouse later this year. He has been learning the title role of William Luce’s play Barrymore, which ran on Broadway in 1997.
If we can help relieve Jim and Judy of their financial burden, there is no doubt Jim will work his way through this ordeal.
