The Story of Stephanie, Rocky and Summer Lynn Butler!

Hi, my name is Kim. I am the mother of Stephanie, mother in law to Rocky and Grandmother to Summer Lynn Butler and I wanted to take the time to reach out to family, friends and community to help raise money in such an unforeseen circumstance for their family! Most close to this family know of their situation but for those who don’t here is their story. Stephanie and Rocky were originally told that Stephanie may never get pregnant but last October they found out that she was already 8 weeks along, which has been such a blessing for this family! She was doing great until March 19th when Stephanie was experiencing what is called Preterm Premature Ruptured Membranes… basically her water broke at 27 weeks! She was admitted to St. Luke’s immediately and they were hoping to keep her on hospital bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy! They gave her a steroid shot to help keep Summer’s lungs strong and growing and also gave her a shot to hold off contractions. After 10 days and a hospital chapel wedding later, unfortunately Stephanie went into labor on March 28th 11 weeks early due to a condition called Chorioamnionitis, an infection of the placenta, and gave birth to the sweetest blessing Summer Lynn Butler 3lbs .7oz and 16in long! Stephanie was discharged from St. Lukes 2 days later healthy and recovering, but unfortunately Summer has a longer journey in the NICU! They tell them to expect her not to be discharged until her due date, which would be June 14th. Summer is strong but has a lot of growing to go! In order for any premie to be discharged they have to reach certain goals: feed on their own, breath on their own, gain weight, hold their own body temperature and pass car seat tests! With all of this being said this has taken a toll on their family financially. Stephanie has been off work since March 19th and with Summer’s NICU stay and when she is discharged needing to take unpaid maternity leave that will almost be just about 6 months of unpaid leave, along with the medical bills to follow. I know family and friends have reached out asking how they can help with their circumstance and any amount that you can spare or share their story would help their family tremendously and I know how much they would appreciate it along with any positive thoughts and prayers! Thank you so much in advance for reading and sharing their story and supporting them through this time!
