Hi everyone, My name is Shauna, and I’m setting this up to help my mum, Elaine, following a severe and life-threatening medical crisis in in the UAE.

A few weeks ago, Mum became critically unwell while alone at home. After serious concerns from my dad, Mark, who was travelling at the time and unable to reach her, the authorities were contacted. Emergency services were forced to break into her home, where they found her collapsed and in a very serious condition. They arrived just in time to save her life. She was rushed to hospital, where she remained for three and a half weeks, receiving urgent and intensive medical care.

Although Mum has now been discharged from hospital, her condition remains extremely serious. She was sent home unable to walk or mobilise and is currently confined to her sofa. She requires ongoing medication, constant assistance, and close monitoring. My dad is caring for her full-time at home, doing everything he can, but the situation is physically, emotionally, and financially overwhelming.

Mum does not have medical insurance, and the financial impact has been devastating, particularly following three very challenging years for our family. The hospital bill alone currently stands at AED 37,000 (approximately £7,500), with a strict 30-day deadline for payment.

In addition, we are now facing significant and ongoing costs for: Home care support and medical supplies Mobility and rehabilitation equipment Medications and essential follow-up care Our immediate goal is to raise funds to meet the hospital payment deadline and to support Mum’s ongoing care at home during this critical phase of her recovery.
