Hi friends!

I am in my second year teaching , and will be teaching TK (Transitional Kindergarten) this Fall. This will be my first time in my own self contained classroom, and I am in need of classroom supplies, books, and other learning materials. Setting up a warm, welcoming, and purposeful environment for my kids is so important-it fosters a positive climate for learning! For many of my students, this will be their first time in school, and I want my classroom to feel like a second home to them. 

A little bit about my school: Clemente Charter School is located in Maywood, in South Los Angeles. 99.3% of the student body is Hispanic/Latino, with 98% socioeconomically disadvantaged, and 47% English Learners. 

With my classroom fund, I would like to purchase the following:

Classroom library:
Developing early literacy skills is pivotal part of Transitional Kindergarten, and creating a rich and diverse collection of books for students to access will help lay the foundation to help students form a positive attitude towards reading. I would also love to create a cozy reading nook with pillows-somewhere where students can relax and enjoy reading! 

Classroom materials: 
Part of my classroom fund will also go towards classroom materials--crayons, glue, art supplies, etc. My kids and their families do face economic hardship and challenges in order to support their families. I want to be able to provide basic materials for all of my students, and enrich their learning and play with art supplies. I also want to create a MAGICAL learning environment for my kids-I want them to be excited and happy to be inside my classroom everyday. 

I view my role as an educator and as an advocate as one in the same. I teach in order to serve the community of my kids, and to ensure that they have access to the resources they need in order to be successful life-long learners.  My students deserve the highest quality education. Your donation to my fund will help equip me with the tools I need in order to best serve them.
